You are not at home but want to be able to watch your favorite shows. What to do ? If your mobile device (phone or tablet) runs on Android system, there are several methods in order to watch your favorite programs. It has never been easier to download episodes, watch TV streaming, watch your broadcasts on the bus, on the plane or in the train. See the first step below to understand the different methods.

Method 1 of 5: Using the Google Play store

Open the Google Play store. On the Google Play store, you can get much more than applications. Many popular TV shows are available for purchase or hire from the shop. It is not a live TV programming, but you can catch up on previous episodes of your favorite series.

Find the program you want. Enter the name of the program you want to download from the search bar. Scroll through the search results down to see results "Movies & TV".
Select your purchase method. You can buy most of the TV programs either through entire seasons or individually. The price is displayed next to each program. Use the drop down menu "Season" to switch between the different seasons.

You will need to have valid payment information related to your Google Account. If you have never purchased anything before, you will be prompted to configure your Google Wallet account (portfolio).

Choose between HD and SD. Recent programs often offer you two options: "buy HD" or "SD buy." HD stands for High Definition, and results in better image quality. The HD option is not supported on all devices, so please make sure your device accepts high definition.

An HD version usually costs a little more than a version of SD (standard definition).
Older issues are available only in SD.

Watch your episodes. Once you have purchased your episodes, you can start watching them immediately. It is not necessary to download them to your device.

Press the Play Store menu button and select "My films and TV". The menu will change, allowing you to select "My TV series." A list of all available episodes will appear.

You can press any episode to start a streaming playback. Keep in mind that streaming uses a lot of data, so try to avoid this play mode when you are not connected via Wi-Fi or you can have only a limited amount of mobile data.


Press the Pin icon next to the title of the program to add the show to your device. After downloading, the issue will be stored in the memory of your device, allowing you to watch anywhere, even without Internet access. This is perfect for air travel or for all other places where you do not have access to this service.


Method 2 of 5: Using Netflix and Hulu +

Download the applications. Netflix and Hulu + both have a wide variety of programs for streaming, available at any time. It's not live TV, but you have access to hundreds of shows and episodes for a monthly fee. Both applications can be downloaded from the Google Play store.


Netflix and Hulu + services are separate and require separate subscriptions.
Log on to the application. When you open the application for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your account information. Once connected, you will be redirected to the main screen of the application.


Search for your program. Browse interface to find the program you want, or use the search function. Hulu + has TV programs and movies and Netflix offers a variety of programs of all kinds.


Launch your program. Once you have selected an episode, its streaming playback will begin. Hulu + is supported by advertising, so you will probably see an ad or two in early reading, with commercial ads during the breaks classics. Netflix works as a DVD and there is no advertising during playback.
Hulu + is likely to have more recent episodes, including episodes aired yesterday.
Streaming uses a significant amount of data, so try to avoid this play mode when you are not connected via Wi-Fi or if you are entitled to a limited amount of mobile data.


Method 3 of 5: Using Aereo

Sign up for Aereo. Aereo is a service that enables the distribution of your local channels on your Android device. You can watch these channels live, where you can schedule the recording of your favorite shows so you can watch them later. Aereo works only for local channels live, there is no subscription for cable channels.
Aereo costs about 6.50 euros and is not available everywhere.
You can register on the website Aereo.

Download the application. Once you have registered on Aereo you can download the application for your Android device. Open the Google Play Store and search for "Aereo". Select "Aereo (Beta)" among the search results, then install it on your device.

Open the application. You will be asked to sign in with your Aereo account information. Once connected, the guide of your channels will appear showing the programs currently being broadcast.

Start looking. Tap the program you want to watch. After a few moments of loading, your show will start from the beginning. You can pause and rewind as much as you want.
Aereo broadcasts only individual programs and not the entire channel. This means that if you want to continue watching the same channel, you will select the next program from the guide.



Method 4 of 5: Using the application on your cable service provider

Download the app for your TV service provider. The majority of cable providers offer applications that allow you to watch live TV on your device. These applications are free, but need to have an account with one of these providers.

Log in with your account. You will need to create an account on your provider's website to connect to the application. You can create an account on the home page of each supplier.

Find the program you want to watch. The capabilities of your application vary from one provider to another. Some offer a limited amount of live channels, while others only allow you to watch recorded videos.

Streaming uses a significant amount of data, so try to avoid this play mode when you are not connected via Wi-Fi or if you are entitled to a limited amount of mobile data.


Method 5 on 5: Using streaming sites

Open a streaming site in the browser on your device. As a last resort, you can try using streaming sites on your Android device. This can be complicated because most of these sites are not designed for mobile use and are often filled with ads.

Some of the most popular sites include World Wide Internet TV, Live TV Coffee and Stream2Watch.

Find the program you want to watch. Most sites list all the programs currently being played and you can use the search function to find exactly what you want. Many of these sites specialize in global programming.

Beware of pop-up windows. Click on a stream usually open another tab that will make you download something. Close the new tab to return to your feed, which may leave room for a few moments to load.

The stream itself can be obscured by advertisements. You will then need to zoom and chase the "X" button to close them.
